Survival Piece II: Notations on the Ecosystem of the Western Saltworks with the Inclusion of Brine Shrimp, 1972
Three ecosystems of Artemia brine shrimp, salt and algae. Each pond has varying salinity which influences the algae, organisms and color of water. The salt was then harvested from the ponds in a performative act.
The piece was originally created for the seminal 1971 Los Angeles County Museum of Art exhibition, Art and Technology.

Survival Piece III: Portable Fish Farm Fish Feast, 1971
Six tanks of catfish, brine shrimp, oysters and lobsters, electrocution chamber and skinning station for catfish.
Performance involving seafood feast with fish harvested during the exhibition.
Originally exhibited as part of the exhibition 11 Los Angeles Artists, at Hayward Gallery, London, 1971.

Survival Piece V: Portable Orchard, 1972
Functioning orchard installed in gallery space, consisting of 18 hexagonal redwood planters and corresponding redwood grow light boxes, and 18 orange, tangerine, avocado lemon, lime and kumquat trees.

Barrier Islands Drama: The Mangrove and the Pine, 1982
Installation of photographs and texts examining the human removal of mangrove trees from their natural habitats in the Barrier Islands of southern Florida, and subsequent invasive infiltration of non-native Casuarina pine trees.

Kassel Works, 1987
Series of works exhibited at documenta 8 in Kassel, Germany in 1987. The works investigate the history and bio-indicators in the city of Kassel, and provide proposals for reconnecting the city, destroyed by American forces during WWII and rebuilt according to Nazi specifications, to its natural resources.
