For The Armory Show, VSF presents a selection of Mernet Larsen’s (b.1940) most iconic works on paper to date. Larsen’s “paintings on paper” are essential roadmaps to the artist’s painting practice, whereby her distinctive compositions and colorations are meticulously developed. The artist, who completes on average 4-5 paintings a year, executes one study on paper for each executed canvas painting. A composed intersection of drawing, painting and architectural planning, these studies are cornerstones to a practice that tackles our contemporary era’s crisis of spacial hierarchy and rational perspectival order.
